: I'm doing a school project on Christmas too, and was wondering if anyone had any information about different ways of celebrating Christmas for different Christian denominations? Cheers.

My mother was Italian, so we celebrated with some of those customs. Christmas Eve was very special, as was the Christmas eve supper. It consisted of seafood since, being Catholic, this was a non-meat day. We had oysters, scallops, various salads.

We always opened our presents on Christmas Eve, after the meal. My sister and her family still open their presents on Christmas Eve.

Late in the evening we went to Midnight Mass, which usually lasted over an hour. We got to sing our favorite carols. Then we finally went to bed, to wait for Santa.
